The Adell Foundation's Street Outreach & Community Food Distribution Program is a bi-monthly community initiative serving residents in the 60426 ZIP Code of Harvey, Illinois, and neighboring areas of Markham, Illinois. Through compassionate outreach, resource navigation, and community partnerships, we connect individuals and families with the support they need to overcome barriers, reduce violence, and build brighter futures.
Our outreach team meets people where they are—in neighborhoods, apartment complexes, parks, schools, churches, and community gathering places—to provide immediate assistance and connect residents to life-changing services.
Our Street Outreach Team builds trusted relationships with residents by listening without judgment, offering encouragement, and connecting individuals to services that promote safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. Whether someone is experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, unemployment, or has been impacted by violence, our goal is to provide hope, practical resources, and a pathway toward long-term success.

The Adell Foundation's Resilient Communities Wraparound Services Program provides comprehensive, person-centered support for individuals and families impacted by community violence, domestic violence, human trafficking, gang retaliation, homelessness, poverty, and other crises. Our goal is to address the underlying factors that contribute to violence while helping participants achieve long-term safety, stability, and self-sufficiency.
We recognize that violence prevention requires more than a single service. Through trauma-informed care, individualized case management, and strong community partnerships, our team works with each participant to develop a personalized action plan that addresses immediate needs and long-term goals.
Our Wraparound Services may include:
Our multidisciplinary approach connects participants with trusted community partners, including schools, healthcare providers, employers, housing agencies, faith-based organizations, behavioral health providers, law enforcement, victim service agencies, and workforce development programs. By coordinating services across multiple systems, we reduce barriers to care and help individuals and families move from crisis to stability.

The Adell Foundation’s Wellness Matters Cooking & Conversation Classes combine healthy cooking education with meaningful discussions about mental wellness, physical health, family stability, and violence prevention.
Participants learn how food can affect mood, energy, stress, sleep, and overall well-being. Each class includes practical instruction on shopping wisely, preparing nutritious meals, reading food labels, planning meals, and cooking healthy foods on a limited household budget.
We have found that preparing and sharing food creates a welcoming environment where participants feel more comfortable opening up and connecting with others. Cooking together serves as a natural icebreaker and creates opportunities for honest, healthy conversations about difficult topics.
Wellness Matters is more than a cooking class. It is a safe and supportive space where individuals and families can build relationships, gain practical skills, discuss community concerns, and connect with resources that promote safety, healing, and self-sufficiency.
By bringing people together around food, we are helping to reduce isolation, strengthen communication, encourage healthier choices, and create opportunities for early intervention before challenges grow into crises.
Wellness Matters: Healthy Food. Healthy Conversations. Healthier Communities.
